Each cell on this board grew its own arms. I set the rules — growth speed, arm length, how tightly they interlock — and the algorithm did the rest. Change one parameter and the whole field becomes a different puzzle.
The parameters that produced this one are engraved on the frame, with the year and my initials. Take them away and the piece could not be made again.
Walnut and pear on beech, tung oil, 20 × 20 cm, around 60 pieces, numbered edition of 25. Harder than it looks: there are no straight edges to start from.
