The capture takes several nights: single exposures stacked on top of each other until the noise disappears and the faint structures come through. Printing is done in a lab on calibrated paper — deep black is not something you achieve at home.
The frame is made here in the workshop. Mortises and slots are milled, the corners jointed, no bought moulding. The rebate is deep, so the picture floats inside it and casts a shadow of its own.
The brass plate carries object, filter, exposure time and date — the same language as the parameters on the puzzles.
